The skies were ominous, but the rain held off and the company was awesome

There was an excellent turnout of Members & whānau for a round of mini golf at Mazengarb Reserve, followed by a few drinks, kai and notices at the Bond Store on Birmingham Street, Paraparaumu.  Mini golf was great fun, with plenty of challenges including much chipping out of the bunkers, many exciting holes-in-one, and a few swear words.

Then it was off to the Bond Store, where hosts Bex and Chris gave us the guided tour, a good yarn about the evolution of the business, and samples of limoncello and gin. The pizzas, platters and cocktails were also yummy.

Firewood working bees will be held on Saturday, weather permitting.

Update: the rain held off and lots of wood was split, stacked and loaded for delivery. Thanks to all the Members, past Members, whānau and friends who turned out, and to the ladies for the awesome smokos. We were also helped by Dave and Haleigh, who are fundraising for a group from Waikanae to attend a Scout jamboree.

For the next 3 weeks Doug will lead morning shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings splitting as we have a lot of deliveries scheduled. Please contact Doug if you can help out: 0274 545754

The issue of the lack of public toilets at the mini golf has been discussed with KCDC. They are unable to fund a toilet as there are public toilets at the pavilion, but if we install one, they may be able to clean them for us.

In exciting news, given the financial success of the venture over the holidays (despite the sometimes inclement weather), the initial contributions by Lions and Rotary ($30,000) will be refunded by the end of February.
