Rotary New Zealand Nepal Flash Floods Relief Fund
To support Rotary projects to assist the people of Nepal following the deadly flash floods and landslides that have devastated communities and damaged critical infrastructure.
Widespread damage in Nepal will take years of intervention and support. Rotary Clubs in Nepal will support families and their communities to rebuild their shattered lives. Support will assist the Nepalese community to recover beyond replacing physical homes to restoring their long-term economic, psychological, and social well-being.
Expressions of Interest for the role of District Governor 2028-29
Expressions of Interest are sought for the role of District Governor 2028-29. This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a new Rotary District that will commence on 1 July 2028. The new District will incorporate the current Districts 9940 and 9999. The title of the new District has yet to be determined. The successful applicant will immediately assume the role of District Governor- Nominee (DGN) and be prepared to attend DGN learning and development in Melbourne in late October 2026. They will liaise and work, as appropriate, with the current G-Trains in both Districts 9940 and 9999.

The next working bee will be on 12 September. The morning shift (9.00am to 12.00pm) will be splitting at our Paraparaumu airport site, and afternoon shift (12.30pm to 3.30pm) will complete the splitting at the airport site, and do deliveries from 55 End Farm Rd, Waikanae. Corrections are helping in the morning and in the afternoon we have the support of Paraparaumu Beach French Language group. Working bee next Thursday at Murphy's Road, leaving @ 8am. Doug generously donated 2 large buckets of daffodils that members could buy for $5 a bunch on the way home, with proceeds going to the Cancer Society. There would have been some very happy recipients when their partners got home.

The trailer raffle is coming together well with some great prizes being donated. Please sign up on ClubRunner. Ross has sent out an email with step-by-step instructions for signing up for a shift. Partners and other whānau are welcome to help.
For new Members, we sell the tickets for a full trailer of awesome goodies, including the trailer. We sell in pairs outside stores and supermarkets around Paraparaumu. It is a good opportunity to get to know other Members, and chat with the public about Rotary.
We are also allocated some books of tickets to sell to friends and family, or to buy. The proceeds go towards our projects, particularly youth projects. The raffle is an annual event and popular with the public. It is drawn on 26 November.

This is on 16 - 18 October at Foxton Holiday Park. So far, 28 people are attending. The theme is By the Seaside. Please bring your beach attire and colourful shirts. Highlights include happy hour and morning smokos. Visitors will be welcome.

Youth - RYPEN
Candidates are being sought by 11 September 2026 for this year's RYPEN (Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment) camp. RYPEN is aimed at young people in the 16 –17 age group who are still at school and are not likely to be selected for Youth Exchange or later for RYLA, but who possess qualities of decency, persistence and application and who deserve further encouragement.
Linda led this fun evening with afocus on responding to the feedback from the recent survey and input from the members. New and older members said they find it hard to understand the jargon of Rotary and can feel a bit left out. The evening had a great vibe with lots of chatter and hilarity.
Mixing up the members – did this by pairing the longest-standing member with the newest member and sitting them together for dinner.
Demystifying the language used at Rotary – so much fun. Charades with props. The actor received a word affiliated with Rotary and the rest of the room had to try and guess what it was, with the winner receiving a chocolate, as a reward for having to explain to the members what the word meant.
Roger, Euon and Kevin Boyce were up front managing the performers, although there were a few comments about how much Kevin had to do with sitting on the chair.
